Nikola Girke, a two-time Olympian, is among the few athletes who have made the transition from one sport to another and competed in two different events at the Olympic Games. Crewing on the double handed 470 sailboat, Girke and her teammate finished 13th at the 2004 Athens Games and she finished a respectable 17th after switching to windsurfing for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. As the sole Canadian at the London 2012 Games in women’s windsurfing, Girke is going for gold!
