Action Sports GPS Goggle about to hit the slopes
Thursday, 04 February 2010 13:38

Do you want to know how fast you are going or how high you just jumped?

_pr_impact_goggle_adCheck out these goggles from Vancouver company Recon Instruments. Not only does the headwear give you performance information, the goggles can also show you "altitude, temperature, time, GPS waypoints, and in the second release, resort piste maps and communication features such as incoming texts and resort amenity information." Recon developed the technology in part to help skiers, snowboarders, and snowmobilers elevate their performance and navigation.

Darcy Hughes, Recon's chief marketing officer, predicts the product has staying power.

"This isn't a trendy tech-toy," Hughes says. "This is a valid piece of training and safety equipment used for performance tracking, navigation and communications, all wrapped up in a sexy design which is incredibly fun and easy to use."

The goggles come in several models and retail between $350 to $450. Recon Instruments will be touring certain sporting goods tradeshows in North America and Europe during 2010. For more information, visit reconinstruments.com.
