Canadians Drive into Top-10 in Four-Man Bobsleigh World Cup at Lake Placid
Lyndon Rush leads Canadians with seventh-place finish, Lueders' crew claims ninth.

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (November 22, 2009) Canada's two bobsleigh pilots, Lyndon Rush and Pierre Lueders, drove their sleds into the top-10 in the four-man race at the Bobsleigh World Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y. on Sunday.

The 29-year-old Rush, of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, teamed up with Calgarians Chris Le Bihan and Dan Humphries along with Brett Bresciani, of Okotoks, Alberta, to finish in seventh spot at one minute 50.59 seconds. Rush captured his first-ever World Cup medal one week ago when he won the four-man race in Park City, Utah.

"We crashed in training earlier this week and it messed our preparation up for this race which I think hurt us a bit," said Rush. "We were unable to test runners and the guys were banged up a bit today so wasn't our best effort. I need to keep more focused and we'll regroup for the next race."

Rush was joined in the top-10 by legendary Canadian bobsleigh pilot, Pierre Lueders of Edmonton, who drove the other Canadian sled into ninth place. Lueders' crew of Ken Kotyk, of Rama, Sask., Edmonton's David Bissett and Justin Kripps, of Summerland, B.C., clocked a two-run time of 1:50.79.

The Americans continued to dominate the Lake Placid stop on the World Cup stealing the first two spots on the podium for the second straight day.

Steven Holcomb piloted the USA 1 sled to top spot with Justin Olsen, Steve Mesler and Curtis Tomasevicz. The speedy Americans posted a winning time of 1:49.60.

John Napier, who won the two-man race on Saturday, teamed up with Jamie Moriarty, Steven Langton, and Christopher Fogt, to finish second at 1:50.04, while Wolfgang Stmpfer, Johannes Wipplinger, Juergen Mayer, and Martin Lachokovics joined forces in the Austria 1 sled to claim the bronze medal with a time of 1:50.14.

The Canadian Bobsleigh Team will have a week off before heading to Europe to resume the World Cup.
