PacificSport Victoria Celebration of Women in Sport
On Saturday, October 3, 2009, PacificSport Victoria is Celebrating Women in Sport (WinS) at the Victoria Conference Centre's Crystal Gardens. Special guests at the event will be the Canadian Women's Hockey team who are in Victoria to play one of six exhibition matches against Team USA this season.

The aim of the WinS event will be to celebrate the best of sport and why sport is important for girls and women of all ages in all stages. The evening will promote the opportunities and possibilities in sport for businesses, volunteers, and the Greater Victoria community.

Essentially, we all "win" through supporting and celebrating Women in Sport--stronger communities, stronger role models, stronger schools, stronger businesses, stronger families, stronger volunteers, and stronger female networks.

Guests for the evening include local schools and sport academies, Local Sport Organizations, National Team Members, Island Olympians, and Greater Victoria Sport Hall of Fame inductees. Sponsored tables will be available for organizations interested in supporting WinS at all stages of long term athlete development.

The Canadian Sport for Life document outlines Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD): a model of an individual's participation in lifelong physical activity. It integrates elite sport, community sport and recreation, scholastic sport, and physical education in schools. An early, positive sporting experience combined with an integrated, supportive community will create an environment that facilitates Sport for Life for all women: www.ltad.ca.

The Celebration of Women in Sport will be an opportunity to integrate and connect schools, communities, businesses, coaches, athletes, and sport clubs. In turn, supporting the four goals of the Canadian Sport Policy: Enhanced Participation, Enhanced Excellence, Enhanced Capacity, and Enhanced Interaction.

This event comes with seven possible sponsorship opportunities.
