An Official Training Ride for Subaru Ironman Canada

GranFondo Canada has partnered with Subaru Ironman Canada to designate the RBC GranFondo Kelowna on July 16, as an official training ride for Subaru Ironman Canada, taking place August 28, 2011 in Penticton, BC.

The RBC GranFondo Kelowna event falls at an ideal time in a triathlete’s training program and will truly test the cycling leg of their preparation for Subaru Ironman Canada. The July ride, which is fully supported, allows a comfortable environment for triathletes to complete a challenging 140km ride in the heat and geography of the Ironman race environment.

“In talking with the team at Subaru Ironman Canada it became really clear that our event could be a great controlled fitness test for their participants,” said GranFondo Canada co-founder Neil McKinnon. He added, “It also doesn’t hurt that the RBC GranFondo Kelowna is right in Subaru Ironman Canada’s backyard.”

Graham Fraser, CEO of Subaru Ironman Canada added, “The date and route of RBC GranFondo Kelowna are pretty convenient for our athletes. Our participants can utilize the controlled, supported environment to fine tune their training for the Ironman Challenge.”
