Over the last three years, Cardel Place has grown from a flourishing sports and recreation centre to a hub for community wellness. With a climbing wall, three basketball courts, two NHL-sized arenas, a swimming pool with lazy river, a fitness centre and weight room, a public library, child minding and a variety of meeting rooms, Cardel Place is more than just a traditional recreation centre.
Our Progress
Cardel Place has made much advancement since we first opened in 2004. We realize that this would be impossible without you - our clients. Thanks to your feedback and suggestions, 85% of Cardel Place customers have told us we have made a positive impact on their lifestyle, which we do by putting community first, enhancing quality of life, building strong relationships and ensuring organizational sustainability as we serve one of Calgary’s fastest growing and most diverse communities.
We asked our community members what they wanted, and they responded. Added to our programs and services this year were individual TVs for all cardio equipment, new fitness equipment including an assisted dip/chin machine, additional treadmills and strong bar barbells for ‘Raise the Bar’ group exercise program, child and youth drop-in and program equipment, and a slide and inflatable obstacle course for the pool.
Community Support
Last year, Cardel Place supported 145 community youth groups, schools, support teams, and non-profit organizations with their fundraising efforts through donations of facility passes and gift certificates.
Awards Of Distinction
In 2006, Cardel Place was profiled by Calgary’s Avenue and Recreation Management Magazines as one of four leading examples of Environmental Design, Innovation, and Architecture. As the first LEED Gold certified recreation centre in Alberta, we hold this distinction extremely high. Also in 2006, we were profiled in Avenue Magazine as one of the top 100 places to visit in Calgary.
Bringing Community Together
As Cardel Place continues to grow, we are proud to introduce many new programs, services, and events this season, including: Personal & Group Training, Family Yoga, Latin Dance Party, Activated Families, Kids’ Stuff Garage Sale, and Pool Play and a Movie.
In the end, Cardel Place is proud to be a member of your community. We want to provide a “place to be” to develop healthy, active, connected individuals and families, and will do our best to exceed your expectations.
